Melanie Gordon, MS, NCC, LCPC

Welcome from Melanie Gordon, MS, NCC, LCPC (she/her/hers)

​

Melanie holds a Master’s degree in Counseling Psychology from Frostburg State University. Prior to earning a Master’s degree, she earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology and an Associate’s Degree in Criminology. In addition, she became a Maryland Board Certified Supervisor in 2007.

As a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor-S, Melanie has a unique clinical background. She began her career working with children and families as a School-Based Therapist. She then transitioned to Corrections for the last 15 years. During that time, she has also worked with individuals and couples in private practice, was an adjunct professor focusing on the Psychology of Adjustment, and worked with both males and females of all ages in a local detention center. She currently enjoys working with teenage and adult Clients of all walks of life including individual, couple, and family work.

While she has been a mental health therapist for the last 20 years, she also realized that she has a passion for health and wellness. Towards the end of her career in Corrections, she became certified as a personal trainer and nutrition coach. Being able to apply her formal training as a therapist with her passion for health has helped her develop a holistic approach to treatment and life. She practices from a theory that there is no goal too small or too large to accomplish. She has a direct and honest style that is goal-driven by utilizing a Cognitive Behavioral approach. In addition, she utilizes Person-Centered and Solution Focused approaches in order to match a style that is unique to each Client.
