Alikah Adair, BS

Counseling Trainee

Welcome from Alikah Adair, BS (she/her/hers)

Alikah has earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Special Education from Coppin State University. Before earning her B. S. degree, she received her Associate of Arts degree in Teacher Education from the Community College of Baltimore County. Alikah is currently pursuing her Master of Science Degree in Counseling Psychology from the University of Baltimore. She has experience working as a special educator for Baltimore County and as a Family Program Manager for the National Alliance on Mental Illness.

Alikah brings over a decade of experience in education, mental health advocacy, and community support to her clinical work. Her background as a special educator strengthened her ability to connect with people across diverse backgrounds and navigate complex emotional, social, and behavioral needs with patience and clarity. She is recognized for her consistent presence, effective communication skills, and ability to foster emotionally safe environments that promote openness and growth.

Alikah has experience working with individuals across the lifespan using person-centered, grounded approaches. Her clinical interests include anxiety and depression, life transitions and identity development, relationship stress, ADHD/ADD, PTSD and PMDD, and empowerment-based support. She specifically enjoys working with members of the LGBTQI+ community, individuals navigating gender identity, and those managing mild to moderate mood disorders. Alikah's preferred theoretical approaches are person-centered therapy, Adlerian therapy, and cognitive-behavioral therapy.

Alikah's commitment to mental health extends beyond clinical practice. As a long-standing volunteer and member with the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI), she has served as a Peer-to-Peer mentor and "In Our Own Voice" presenter, sharing her lived experience to support others on their recovery journeys. Through this work, she has developed meaningful expertise in psychoeducation, group facilitation, advocacy, and the use of personal narrative as a tool for healing and empowerment. Her therapeutic style strikes a balance between warmth and gentle challenge, encouraging clients to explore their internal world while empowering them with practical skills that support their daily functioning.

In her spare time, Alikah enjoys watching documentaries and movies based on true stories. She will indulge in the occasional Love Is Blind series. She consistently stays
active with daily walks accompanied by her 7-year-old chihuahua, Jaxx. When time permits, Alikah recharges with a hot yoga class and roller skating. Through diamond dotting, adult coloring, and music, Alikah is able to balance work and self-care. She is also embracing her newest challenge of becoming a plant parent and developing her green thumb one plant at a time.
